Albany Roller Derby offers three roller skating programs and an Officials (Referee/NSO) pathway.
We can provide skates, helmets, and safety equipment in all programs for loan for no cost.
We are a registered KIDSPORT Club. this can cover up to $500 per year of kids’ sporting costs.
*Please apply for your KIDSPORT code and email it to us. Then we will let you know how to proceed with the registration
None of our programs use inline/blades. Please do not wear these to your class. It’s like taking a soccer ball to AFL practice, yes it’s a ball, but they move and are used in different ways.
All programs run for a 20-week season. Starting May 1st to September 25th. And are led by experienced coaches who hold:
Level 1 in Roller Derby coaching (Skate Victoria)
Working With Children Check
First Aid and CPR qualifications.
If you require financial support with your membership, contact us for instructions on how to proceed with registration.
Transferring skaters from any club are welcome all season. Please contact us for more information.

✨ Got lockdown skates collecting dust? Want to do something fun just for YOU? ✨
Learn balance, stops, crossovers, backwards skating & more in a safe, inclusive space for adults. All genders welcome - 18+ only.
Join our four-week program and learn all the basic skate skills that will help you enjoy roller skating or get ready to join our roller derby program. Fun and active sessions with great coaches. FREE skate and gear hire.
Sundays 1pm to 2pm at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre
Starts March 2nd - March 23rd.
Cost $60 + $30 for insurance
Junior Learn to Skate
Ages 8 to 17 and all genders welcome.
Ideal for beginners. Learn to roller skate in a fun and inclusive program. Please note this is not for roller blades/inline skates.
Non-competitive, Non-contact
Thursdays 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Insurance: $30 annually. To be paid before skating.

Ages 10 - 17 - All genders
Competitive - Modified and full contact
This program requires minimum skating skills. If you are unsure which program is suitable for you, don't hesitate to contact us.
If you are new to skating please join our Junior Learn to Skate program.
Insurance: $45 annually. To be paid before skating.

Ages 18+ and all genders are welcome
Ideal for beginners and experienced skaters. Coached by fun and experienced coaches. Skills and drills each week build up to gameplay.
Learn to roller skate and play roller derby this season!
Thursdays 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Insurance: $90 annually. To be paid before skating.
Referee
Ages 16+ and all genders are welcome.
Learn to skate and become a referee. Non-contact skating is a great option.
Learn skills in a supportive and welcoming environment
Thursdays 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Learn a wide variety of skills: timing the game, tracking penalties, timing penalties, keeping score, operating the scoreboard, and tracking lineups.
NSO’s are an essential member of the club and skills and training is delivered across the season - weekly attendance is not required (but most welcome!)
